Earthquake in Morocco: Agrisud mobilized to support farmers' families in the Marrakech region

The earthquake that occured in Morocco on the night of September 8-9, 2023 was particularly severe in the High Atlas region, where Agrisud has been working with its partners for over 10 years.

In the Municipality of Asni, the toll is particularly heavy. Many families are mourning the loss of a family member or neighbor. Houses, traditionally built in adobe, have collapsed; infrastructure has been damaged.

Beyond the immediate dramatic consequences, there is no doubt that this agricultural region will be seriously affected over time. The apple harvest, families’ main production, cannot be ensured this year. Yet it represents the annual source of income that enables them to meet their needs.

In order to support families and ensure post-emergency period, Agrisud is mobilizing and working with its partners to set up a specific two-phase action: a period of support for reconstruction and a period to relaunch agricultural activities.
