What have been the results of the initiatives carried out with Agrisud in your area?
"Agrisud has provided us with significant support, formalized by the signing of a memorandum of understanding with our provincial agriculture department for the implementation of these activities.
To ensure their implementation, the district’s agricultural extension services were then tasked with coordinating on-the-ground activities with Agrisud.
Previously, farmers mainly grew rice on the mountainsides, using short crop rotation cycles. Today, thanks to the land-use planning that has been put in place, we are seeing a reduction in problems related to fallow land.
The project has enabled participatory land-use planning with villagers, who now fully understand the importance of this approach.
Furthermore, the promotion of certain crops, particularly forage crops for animal feed on improved pastures, has led to particularly significant changes.
The establishment of improved pastures with forage crops is now one of the most valued activities in the district for developing sustainable agriculture and supporting the growth of commercial cattle farming."
