Context / issue
The partnership results from Club Med’s strong commitment to strengthening the contribution of its resorts to local economic development. Club Med’s tourism activities generate positive economic benefits, particularly through local sourcing, from which local communities do not always benefit as much as they could due to the lack of a viable economic infrastructure.
This commitment led to a partnership with Agrisud International in 2009.
Hundreds of small family farms in precarious situations receive support each year in managing their production and are trained in productive and environmentally respectful farming practices.
These farms can access new markets, such as Club Med’s, and look to the future with greater confidence. At Club Med resorts, delicious, fresh, local, healthy, and meaningful products are featured daily on the buffets.
The partnership is currently operating in 9 countries, with 12 resorts.
The Principles Driving the Partnership

- Economic dynamics: improving the local market supply of fresh produce (food security); wealth creation
- Sharing knowledge and know-how: sharing of agroecological practices with other farms, professional organizations, and local agricultural extension services...
Benefits for Club Med:
- Products: quality (fresh, seasonal, local, environmentally respectful, and meaningful products)
- Operations: opportunities to improve the offering and service: excursions, demonstrations, exhibitions, and conferences related to the project
