Agroecology facing climate changes in Central Africa Print E-mail

Agrisud has capitalized its agroecological expertise within a guide of good practices and proposes to strengthen the competence of practitioners in the field through the implementation of a learning session.

This training of trainers is designed to improve participants' ability to disseminate the agroecological practices. It is based on a transfer of methods and tools for:
- Understand agroecology and its economic, social and environmental purposes;
- Understand the fundamentals of the agroecology (management of agroecosystem components: water, soil, plant, animal and landscape);
- Analyze the context of particpants intervention and identify them with suitable agroecological practices that meet the constraints of producteurs;
- Be able to disseminate practical (technical skill and teaching method).
The aim is twofold:
- Strengthening development efforts in improving the quality of assistance to producers;
- Promote the dissemination of agroecological practices in the areas of intervention Agrisud and its partners.
After the first two rounds held in late 2010, one in humid region (DR Congo) and the other in the dry zone (Senegal), 3 other cycles were held this year in Haiti, Madagascar and again in DR Congo members of the PANA project and its partners (National Action Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change - Adaptation of the Agricultural Sector).

Ten members of the Congolese Universities, four researchers from the INERA ((Institut National pour l'Etude et la Recherche Agronomique) and four project agents have worked for 8 days, from May 19 to26, practices resilient allowing producers to cope with the effects of climate change.
